CHN Links: Friday Edition

Good morning, Toon Army. I really hate reading that the owner had to fly in just to have a meeting with the manager, even if it is just from London.

News
Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias flew into Newcastle to talk transfer strategy with Alan Pardew, and apparently part of the meeting was spent reviewing film from the Stevenage disaster. (Scott Wilson, The Northern Echo)

Shola Ameobi is fit for the derby, which is great news, considering his track record against the Unwashed. (Mark Douglas, The Journal)

Kevin Nolan is not happy with the result of Newcastle's appeal over Cheik Tiote's red card. Kevin: Stop focusing on this and get ready for the derby. It's not worth crying over. (Ben Collins, Sky Sports)

Nikos Dabizas reflected on what it's like to be a derby hero. (Lee Ryder, The Chronicle)

Transfer Rumors
28 year-old striker Jay Bothroyd of Cardiff will be available on a free this summer, but Newcastle and other clubs are said to be kicking the tires. (Simon Bird and John Cross, MirrorFootball)

This one goes solidly in the "rumor" category, because the only place I can find it is on sites that pass on gossip: Pardew is said to be moving on from Seb Larsson and is now targeting Niko Kranjcar, who was connected to the Magpies several months ago. (Football Transfer Tavern)

Sol Campbell is now drawing interest from the suddenly active West Ham United. (The Mail)
