First, let's get two rumors from yesterday out of the way that I don't believe have a shred of truth: (1)Twitter started going nuts with the "news" that Kevin Nolan had to sit out on Saturday because he got into a fight with Andy Carroll. No source of any substance was ever produced that I can tell. (2)Chris Hughton would have been sacked if Coloccini hadn't saved the day against Wigan. Here is the inciting article for you to read and decide for yourself. (Colin Young, The Mail) You'll notice three things: (1)There is no supporting quote. (2)Nobody else is reporting this, especially not local beat writers. (3)This is a complete hypothetical. These are extremely easy to make up, and besides, what does it matter? The Magpies didn't lose, so Chris Hughton wasn't fired. End of story.
