CHN Links:Tuesday Edition

Good morning, Toon Army. Good news for Andy Carroll as he basically ducks one of his assault charges. Details on that and more stories after the jump.

Andy Carroll as he appeared in court on Monday. I say Chris Hughton pulls off the suit a little better.

Andy Carroll plead guilty to assault in court Monday and was ordered to pay a relatively small fine. (The Chronicle) Chris Hughton is relieved about the development, and Carroll is now focusing on the upcoming week, which features a cup match against Arsenal and the Tyne-Wear Derby. (both links Lee Ryder, The Chronicle) Joey Barton, who has faced plenty of trouble himself, had some words of advice for Andy. (Luke Edwards, The Journal)

Alan Oliver of The People continues to float the idea that Chris Hughton could be sacked at any second, which elicited an angry (and pretty funny) response from toonsy of nufcblog.org. For his part, Hughton is calm and reserved about the whole situation, as he is wont to be. (Luke Edwards, The Journal)

Hughton is being patient when it comes to hiring a new assistant. (Sky Sports)

Kevin Nolan opened up about what the last week has been like for his family. (Lee Ryder, The Chronicle)

Joey Barton says the adversity the Magpies are facing will make them stronger. (Lee Ryder, The Chronicle)

Chris Hughton was pleased with the performances of both Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini on Saturday. (Lee Ryder, The Chronicle)

The Guardian did a bit of chalkboard analysis on the West Ham match, noting that most of the action went down the left side, while both goals were created down the right. Interesting stuff.

BBC Sport already has a preview up of the Carling Cup match between Newcastle and Arsenal. Lee Ryder does some speculating about who might be selected.

Hughton is rumored to be watching Belgian winger Jonathan Legear. (The People)
