CHN Links: On A Wednesday My Trial Was At-tested

Good morning Toon Army.

It's Carling Cup week and later today we'll face an Gunner side that Wenger has promised will be strong and looking to win. While avoiding relegation should still be the main priority of Chris Hughton and the lads, I'd still like to see us put a good foot forward in these Cup matches. Follow us past the break for a look at that and other things.
My favorite two stories of the day are of Joey Barton playing the unlikely mentor to young and rambunctious Andy Carroll. (SkySports and JournalLive) And, Joey Barton calling on the team to play a tighter game and quit allowing that first goal and giving themselves a hill to climb.

The Boss himself also had some things to say to Andy about his recent shenanigans.

Lee Ryder is just as in love with Cheik Tiote as the rest of us.(ChronicleLive)

People.co.uk is spreading rubbish about our Boss and the imaginary axe above his neck. Not a single bit of factual or quoted support offered in that trashy piece. I only link it so you can see for yourself.

Arsene Winger is promising a strong side for tomorow's Cup tie, and he has decided that the Carling Cup will end the silverware drought for the Gunners.(MirrorFootball)

The Derby is coming and according to the Journal, things are already heating up.

Finally a tidbit that, as an American, whether this is true or not, has me excited to no end. My countryman Landon Donovan has fallen under the gaze of one Chris Hughton. According to "a Newcastle source" they'll be ready to put up a fight for him in January.(Caughtoffside via Goal.com)
